Purpose Source Association founded; founding cohort opens
The steward organisation now exists as a Swiss association, and the founding cohort — the escrow campaign in which no project converts alone — is open.
The Purpose Source Association was founded in September 2026 as an association under Art. 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code, with its seat in the canton of Aargau. It is the steward organisation of the Purpose Source category: registrar and router, never owner; never a licensor of anyone’s code; never a recipient of routed funds.
Two things about it are pending, and are stated as pending. Publication of the commercial-register entry: the register number and the Art. 69 Abs. 2 ZGB representative appear in the imprint on the day the register confirms them. And the advance ruling on public-benefit tax exemption, which has been applied for in Aargau and is pursued, never assumed.
The founding cohort
From today the founding cohort is open. It is an escrow: repositories and paying organisations commit conditionally, and the licence goes live for all of them on the same day, once a published minimum of both is in place. No project converts alone; no payer buys into an empty registry. Launch is the escrow filling, and the announcement will be the event itself.
If you administer a product repository and want to be in that cohort, the administrator page describes what changes and what does not, and the adoption guide carries the inbound-licence check to run first. If your organisation would buy an Entitlement at launch, write to us.
What this post does not say
No figure. No named partner, payer or board member. Nothing about impact, because no money has moved and no ledger row exists. That silence is deliberate; the about page describes the structure that keeps it so.
Operator-approved: this launch-window post carries the operator's publication approval. Posts on this site carry no figure until a ledger row exists to back it.
